The National Monuments Service's description
On broad, flat break of a NW-facing, gently undulating, slope. In upland terrain, under pasture. This stone pair consists of a large, flat-topped pillar stone and a smaller stone lying 1.95m to E which has a triangular profile and sloping top. Both stones are composed of red sandstone with quartz inclusions. Both stones are aligned SW-NE (front face to SW). The upright stone has a distinctive vertical quartz vein with a smaller one on the NE side and is rectangular in plan (Wth 0.5m NE; 0.59m SW; 0.61m SW; 0.8m NW) with a number of packing stones. The prostrate stone is five-sided (Wth 0.5m NE; 0.54m SE; 0.28m S; 0.43m SW; 0.63m NW) with a packing stone on its NW side. A small boulder (O.56m x 0.3m) lies between the two standing stones but is not embedded. Four small cairns (TS091-004001-), possibly prehistoric field clearance cairns, are located to NW and N of standing stones.
