According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Cloghardeene & Ballynyty' there stands 'a grist mill' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'Edmond Keating of Cloghardeen and James Keatinge of Ballynty Gent: Irish Papists' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 343). The mill is unlocated within the townland of Cloghardeen.
