The National Monuments Service's description

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) there were 'two thatcht houses with chemnyes' in Cloghardeen (Siminton 1931, vol.1, 343). However, there is no visible evidence that the present 'Cloghardeen House' has any early fabric or that it stands on the location of a 17th-century house. The houses remain unlocated within the townland.
