The National Monuments Service's description
On the W side of the town, N of Main Street. The medieval church of St. Nicholas of Myra (TS085-004006-) appears to have survived until c. 1813 when it was demolished and replaced by a C of I church (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 63). Incorporated in the inner face of the W boundary wall of the church is a fragment of a limestone graveslab (dims. 0.97m x 0.48m) which is cracked across the middle. The slab is decorated with a four-armed cross with trefoil terminals with a crown of thorns and barred knop. There is a sun on the dexter side and a moon on the sinister side. Under the cross are a number of symbols of the passion. These include a hammer, pincers, ladder, cup and lance. There is no inscription in the border (Wth 0.08m) (Farrelly and FitzPatrick 1993).
