The National Monuments Service's description
On an E-W ridge, within Ard Gaoithe Business Park on the N outskirts of Clonmel. Archaeological monitoring was carried out by Mary Henry in advance of extending a car park (Excavation Licence no. 04E1265). Within an area of 10m² there were nine features which contained a similar fill of moderately compact, greyish black silty clay with inclusions of frequent flecks of charcoal and a moderate amount of heat-shattered limestone and sandstone (Henry 2004, unpublished report). These were interpreted by the excavator as being suggestive of a fulacht fia within the immediate vicinity (ibid.). This features were not fully excavated.
