The National Monuments Service's description
According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Short Castle' there 'standeth a Castle' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'Morrish Keating of Loghlochry Gent.' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 345). This castle is unlocated within the townland of Shortcastle.
