The National Monuments Service's description

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) upon the lands of Knocklofty 'stands the walls of an old ruinous castle without repaire' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 327). The house had been tentatively located to Knocklofty House, however, this appears to be an 18th-century house with later additions (Bence-Jones 1988, 179). It is possible that the remains of the castle may be incorporated within the house but without a detailed survey this cannot be ascertained. The castle is currently unlocated within the townland of Knocklofty Demesne.
