The National Monuments Service's description
Ó Cearbhaill (2007, 174) associates this Kilmore with the 'Kilmororussia' mentioned in the Papal Chancery documents of 1260, 'Kilmor O Russythe' in the Papal Taxation records of c. 1306, and 'Kilmore Crussyn' in the Irish monastic and episcopal deeds of 1370-90 and 'Kilmore' in the latters' deeds of 1551 and 1570. According to Power (1907, 310), within Kilmore townland 'the early church site was found, after a long search, near the eastern extremity of the townland where the boundary is bisected by the main Clonmel to Thorny Bridge road'. This church is unlocated within the townland.
