The National Monuments Service's description

The Civil Survey (1654-6) refers to Walter Hackett, Irish papist, as the owner of Ochardstown and states that 'Upon the sd lands stands a little ruinous castle and some cabbynns' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 301). There is no visible trace of this castle at ground level. Orchardstown House, indicated on the 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch maps, was destroyed by fire and completely rebuilt in the 1960s. The castle is unlocated within the townland.
