The National Monuments Service's description
On a gentle E-facing slope on the summit of a ridge in undulating terrain, the ground slopes to the NE beyond the moated site. The SE and NE quadrants are surrounded by tillage. The moated site consists of a roughly rectangular area (diam. 48m NW-SE; NE-SW not obtainable due to heavy growth) with rounded corners and is defined by a scarp (H 0.9m) and outer fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.2m). There is no build up of material at the corners. The monument is covered by lush grass with scrub in the E and S edge of the monument. The field boundary at the SW angle is very high with a berm feature on the NE side. The bank and berm are raised above the bank of the moated site and the field to SW. In the W quadrant there is dense scrub. In the N quadrant there is a flat-bottomed, wide fosse with a counterscarp bank which has been augmented by a later field bank. A field boundary runs around the moated site from N through W and S. Tillage on the field to NE and SE, field ploughed right up to edge of fosse making it difficult to discern the original limit of the fosse.
