On a slight, natural rise which slopes to the W in gently undulating pasture, Lisronagh tower house (TS077-010001-) is c. 30m to the N. The church at Lisronagh is mentioned in the Ecclesiastical Taxation returns of 1319-22 (Barry 1977, 167). In 1570 there was a dispute between the Vicar of Lisronagh, Peter Howet, and the collectors of Rectorial tithes as to certain tithes of Lisronagh, the judgement given was in favour of the former (Curtis 1935-7, 56). The 1st (1840) and 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map indicate a C of I church which was built c. 1831 (Curtis 1935, 58). The C of I church now stands in ruins, within a rectangular graveyard (TS077-010004-). The OS Letters mention foundations of a wall visible to the E of the C of I church which may have been the E gable of the medieval church which 'has been demolished about seven years ago' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 2, 143), i.e. in the 1830s. According to Power (1907, 283-310) 'some remains of the ancient church stand in the graveyard beside the small, square, and well-preserved castle ruin of Lisronagh'. There is now no visible trace of the medieval church above ground. A late medieval graveslab (TS077-010005-) is located at the E gable of this church.
