The National Monuments Service's description
Formerly situated at Toureen Peacaun monastery (TS075-023----) and currently housed in University College Cork. The cross-slab is listed in Waddell and Holland's (1990, 171, fig. 6.31) catalogue. The stone had been built into the internal face of the E gable of the church (TS075-023001-) and is recorded there in a photograph taken in the 1960s (Okasha and Forsyth (2001, 301). It is described by Okasha and Forsyth (2001, 301-02) from Waddell and Holland’s scale drawing as a small slab (H c. 0.15m; Wth c. 0.09m) which was 'a fragment of a slab of unknown form. Incised on its visible face was one limb of an outline cross. The cross filled almost all of the then extant portion of slab'. It is listed as Toureen Peacaun 44 (ibid.). The stone was uncovered during the 1944 excavation (Duignan 1944, 227). It appears to have been built into the E wall of the church by the OPW but was subsequently thought to have gone missing. The slab was uncovered during Ó Carragáin's excavation within the church in 2007, where it appears to have fallen from the E wall (Ó Carragáin 2007).
