The National Monuments Service's description

According to Power (1908, 199) there is a field in Glennashagh townland called 'Liagán - "Pillar-Stone"; the name is applied to the field in which the pillar stands'. This suggests that there is a possible standing stone in the townland, though its precise location is unknown.
