The National Monuments Service's description

Presence of a souterrain referred to by Keatinge (1858-9, 11) as 'a sewer leading from the fort; and on asking him [the local guide] why it was in ruins, he informed me that some couple of years ago a fox, hotly pressed by the Tipperary hounds, had earthed in it, and was dug out, which accounts for its present state'. Within W-side of enclosure (TS071-022001-). Linear depression (L 8m on N-side; L 9m on S-side; basal Wth 1m; overall Wth 4.5m; D 0.7m to N; 0.95m to S) adjoining interior of bank of enclosure (TS071-022001-) at W. Souterrain defined by low earthen bank (int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.25m; Wth 3.45m) to S side and bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.45m; Wth 3.55m) to N side; open to E. Possible stone corbelling. Loose stones within fosse of enclosure may be associated. Enclosure (TS071-023001-) located 360m to S.
