On a low ridge running roughly N–S, at the base of a hill which rises to the WNW, in undulating pasture. There is a stream which runs NE–SW 200-300m to the E–SE–S and the land slopes gently to the low land adjacent to the stream. The tree covered hill on which Tullamain motte and bailey (TS069-045003-) stands is visible 1km to the SE. Two ringforts (TS069-018---- and TS069-025----) are visible c. 600m and c. 400m respectively on the hillside to the NNW. A roughly circular area is delineated by a dashed line on the 1st (1840) ed. 6-inch OS map as a graveyard enclosing a rectangular church (TS069-026----). According to the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 3, 86 (258)) in 1840 there was 'no interment made at this place'. Only one lump of masonry is visible of the church which is now collapsed and obscured under an earthen mound. A curving earthen bank (int. H 0.08m; ext. H 0.33m; Wth at top 1m; overall Wth 1.5m) extending in an arc eastward (14.5m E of mound) from the SE angle of the church mound may be part of an original enclosure, though it could not be traced N of the church mound. At a distance of 23m W of the church mound there is a scarp which curves to the NE which may delineate the W/NW sector of a graveyard enclosure. There are a lot of earthworks (TS069-026002-) in the field surrounding the church, some of which may be associated with the graveyard, while others may be the remains of a settlement associated with the church.
