The National Monuments Service's description

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 1640 ‘Ballymckeaddy', which was under the proprietorship of ‘John Cantwell of Ballynckeady Esqr. Irish Papist’, had ‘the ruines of a mill uppon the River ffaddaghty w[hi]ch runns through this land on the south' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 25). This watermill is unlocated within the townland of Ballymacady.
