The National Monuments Service's description
In improved pasture, in SW area of field. Pond choked with rushes to NW and rushes to ESE. Large oval area (dims. 74m NE-SW; 66m NW-SE) defined by gentle scarp (Wth 4.5m; H 0.55m at SE) (Wth 3m; H 0.25m at NE) W-N-E-S which is irregular in plan giving the general oval shape a rougher edge. Scarp not readily visible S-SSW and instead this area of the perimeter is undulating with natural hollows. Drain (long-axis NNW-SSE) cuts monument across SW-sector; again scarp not visible here. Interior slopes downwards to NE from a plateau area in the SW-sector. Remnants of lazy beds (long-axis NW-SE) all across monument. These have disturbed a previously unrecorded barrow (TS066-079001-) off-centre to N of the interior. This area was probably always a gently rising slope and the scarp created as a result of fluvial activity around the low-lying land NNW-SE. Drainage works have removed the water further accentuating this dry area. Drains at base of scarp also further accentuate its height. There is another ring-barrow (TS066-079002-) just within the N sector of the enclosure and there may be others which cannot be recognised due to the ground disturbance. Visible on aerial photograph (ref. OS 2437/6) as large oval area.
