The National Monuments Service's description
The Civil Survey (1654-6) describes 'an old stumpe of a castle & som thatcht houses not inhabited', in the townland of Clogh Iready (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 63). The castle was provisionally located to Ballynacree House as it is the townland house, however, it is a 19th-century house with no evidence of any early fabric. Castle remains unlocated within Ballynacree townland.
