The National Monuments Service's description
According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 1640 there was 'one old thatcht house' in 'Knockanglasse' and 'Edmond Kearney of Knockanglass Gent. Irish Papist' is listed as the proprietor (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 103). The Civil Survey also mentions 'Wm. Brett of Lysmortagh in the Barony of Middlethird who was tried at an Assize held at Clonmell about ye yeare 1634 For Treason in Burninge the Dwelling house of Patrick Kearney of Knockanglasse & was condemned & executed for the same' (ibid. 104). The present Knockanglass House is late Georgian (dims. 7.73m x 14.53m; wall T 0.7m), three-bay, two-storey over basement house, one room deep, with hipped roof and two central chimney stacks. Central staircase with room on either side. The 16th/17th-century house remains unlocated within townland.
