The National Monuments Service's description

On a rise in undulating terrain in pasture. In the field enclosing Railstown church (TS061-125----) and graveyard (TS061-125001-), immediately to the N, W and E, there are numerous earthworks, some definable while others do not form a recognisable patter. The earthworks consist of low banks (Wth top 1.6m; base 3.7m; H 0.15-0.25m). The most definable earthworks are approximately 30m E of the graveyard and consist of three conjoined rectangular or sub-rectangular enclosures (dims. 15m x 23m; 25m x 24.5m; 24.5m x 46.5m) running from S to N respectively, with a fourth (dims. 28.5m x 32.4m) running E-W conjoined to the latter two. These earthworks may be related to the deserted settlement of Railstown/Kilbragh (TS061-126----), the earthworks of which are located c. 200m to the SW.
