The National Monuments Service's description

According the Jackson (1957, 19) in 1275 'a gaol' was built beside the Church of St. Nicholas in Cashel. The chapel or chantry of St. Nicholas (TS061-025021-) was apparently located in the immediate area of the present Post Office which is on the N side of the W end of Main Street, Cashel. The prison is not visible above ground and its precise location is unknown.
