The National Monuments Service's description
On a slight N-facing slope, in gently undulating pasture, with natural ground level sloping down gently from the moated site on the E and S sides. Roughly rectangular area (dims. 52m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by an internal broad earthen bank (overall Wth 5.55m; Wth at top 1.3-1.55m; int. H 0.6-0.8m; ext. H 1.15m). At the external base of the bank is a wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 3.5m; D 0.9m) and a broad external earthen bank (overall Wth 4.1m; Wth at top 1.5m; int. H 1-1.3m; ext. H 0.4m). The moated site has an unusual roughly rectangular shape with three roughly right-angled corners at the SW, NW and NE while the line of the enclosure is curved E-SW. The internal bank and fosse are best preserved along the curved section of the E-SW. There is a modern break (Wth 5m) in the bank at N. The external bank is best preserved E-SW and SW-NE being very low and eroded NE-N. The external bank has been removed N-E and at the SW corner. The SW and NW corners of the enclosure are constructed at slight acute angles to flank the entrance which is set back slightly in the W side of the enclosure at WNW and consists of two opposing breaks (both Wth. 6m) in the internal and external banks with a slight causeway across the fosse. The interior slopes slightly facing N with the slope being slightly steeper across the S half. An annexe (TS058-049001-) abuts the external face of the external bank SE-SW.
