The National Monuments Service's description

Just off summit of hill on SE facing slope in upland area in undulating countryside with good extensive views in all directions. Good view of Ballysheeda tower house (TS051-011----) c. 1.4km to N. Impressive raised square-shaped platform (dims. 37m SW-NW; 43m NW-NE) enclosed by a low poorly preserved bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.15m) reduced to a scarp (H 0.5-4m) in places with wide water-logged flat-bottomed outer fosse (Wth 3-5m; ext. D 1-3m) with no entrance feature visible. N half of platform appears to have been partially quarried away destroying part of interior, enclosing element and foose on N side of monument. SW angle of moated site is the best preserved where the scarp is at its highest and the fosse at its deepest. Interior slopes steeply from S to N which may be exaggerated due to quarrying.
