The National Monuments Service's description

On the summit of a hill with good panoramic views in all directions. A large circular waterlogged area (diam. 45m N-S; 47m WNW-ESE) enclosed by a bank (top Wth 1m; base Wth 3m; ext. H 1.2-1.9m; int. H 0.7m) of earth and stone with traces of a waterlogged outer fosse (Wth 1.5m; ext. D 0.35m). The interior is very wet and marshy which along with the well-preserved nature of banks and hilltop location casts doubt on its antiquity. It is depicted on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular grove of trees at the end of a plantation of trees associated with nearby Lackenacoombe House. Field boundaries radiate out from the bank at the NW, NE and SE as depicted on the OS 6-inch map.
