The National Monuments Service's description
On a SE-facing slope of rising grassland in upland area with good views in all directions. Castle is indicated as site of Williamstown Castle on both the 1st (1840) and subsequent 1903 ed. OS 6-inch maps. The castle is not visible at ground level.
