The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a natural rise off the crest of a NE-facing slope. A well-preserved bivallate ringfort consisting of a circular area (diam. 41m N-S; 38m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.53m; ext. H 1.87m), a U-shaped fosse (Wth 2.7m; D 0.9m) and a possible outer bank (Wth 2m; ext. H 1.13m). The latter runs from SE through S to W and may be a field boundary which curves to respect the monument. There is a causewayed entrance gap (Wth 2m) at WNW and a modern gap in the E sector (Wth 2.2m). Some stone protrudes from the internal face of the outer bank.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
