The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a NW-facing slope just below the summit of a hill with a nearby church to the S (TN042-030). A raised circular area heavily overgrown at the time of visit enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.5-2.5m) and a wide, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 3-4m; D 1m) and outer bank of earth and stone (Wth 1.5m; ext. H 0.5m) with good evidence of external stone-facing in places. There is a small cairn at the centre of the site (dims. 1m x 3m; H 0.4m). It was impossible to examine the impressive defensive features of the site due to the dense cover of vegetation. No entrance feature visible.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
