The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a NW-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. An oval area (diam. 36m N-S; 50m E-W) enclosed by an earth and gravel bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.32m; ext. H 1.37m) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 2.7m; D 0.37m) which is most visible at N and S. The interior at N is slightly raised. A gap (Wth 2m) in the SE sector appears to have been broken through the bank with other breaks in the bank at NW (Wth 3.1) and WNW (Wth 1.8m). It is possible that the NW gap is the original entrance, somewhat eroded by cattle and presently blocked with scrub.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
