The National Monuments Service's description
Situated near the top of a SW-facing slope in pasture. The site is fenced off and covered with corrugated sheeting. There was formerly a step down to the well on the S side and stones continued around to form a circle surrounding the well. However this S side has been broken out and a concrete rectangular trough installed with a pump. A stream flows from this spring well downslope to the SW. Lower down the slope to the W there is another spring well.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
