The National Monuments Service's description
This feature, all trace of which has been removed by 1904, stood on the lower south-western slopes of Mauherslieve. According to an account in an OS Name Book (c.1840) it consisted 'of a few large stones placed erect on a hill'. (OS Name Book, 1904; De Valera and Ó Nualláin 1982, 98, No.8)
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
