The National Monuments Service's description

Situated just below the brow of a hill on an E-facing slope in an upland area with the nearby Fishmoyne River to the E. A slightly raised circular area (diam. 79m N-S; 78m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1-1.5m) and an outer fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.5-0.8m) which is intersected by a modern roadway from E to S and a laneway at W. No entrance feature visible. An earlier report (NMI file) relates that human skeletal remains were uncovered in the 1930s by the local landowner. According to local tradition these were famine burials interred in the ringfort and the area was commonly known as a 'cholera pit'.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
