The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the summit of a hill in an upland area with extensive views and nearby church (TN034-023) to the E. A well-preserved site consisting of a raised circular area (diam. 34m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 2m), a wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 7m; D 2m) and a flat-topped outer bank (Wth 1.8m; ext. H 2m) with a causewayed entrance (Wth 5m) at ESE. Evidence of external stone revetment of the outer bank is visible at NE, with wall-footings protruding from the top of the scarp enclosing the platform. The hilltop location along with the defensive features indicate that this is a ringwork of medieval date possibly contemporary with the nearby church.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
