The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a SSW-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. Originally an oval-shaped enclosure (diam. 90m N-S; 40m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3-4.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1-1.5m) and outer fosse (Wth 2m; ext. D 0.5m) both of which survive from SSW through W to N only. The bank is depicted as surviving from SSW through W through N to E on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
