The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on an E-facing slope just below the summit of a hill with an enclosure site (TN029-078) to the NE. The Royal Visitation of 1615 described the building as a 'church and chancell downe' (Murphy 1914, 222). A poorly preserved rectangular church (ext. dims. 9.15m N-S; 16.2m E-W; wall T 1m) consisting of the lower wall foundations surviving to a height of 0.73m. At the W end of the N wall there is the lower W jamb of a chamfered rebated limestone doorway. No other architectural features visible. The church is situated in the W end of a modern graveyard (TN029-079002) (Stout 1984, 100).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
