The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in an area of flat pasture. In 1612 the 'castle, town and lands of Oldtown were granted to John Cantwell (Cal. pat. Rolls, Ire., Jas I, 197). Although visible on aerial photographs neither the castle (TN029-051001) nor the earthworks are visible at ground level.
