The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on flat poorly drained land with a nearby mound (TN029-023002) to the NW. A large flat-topped irregular-shaped earthen mound (H 1.5m; 14m NW-SE; 8m NE-SW) with no evidence of an enclosing fosse. This is possibly a natural hillock which has been scarped and flattened on top.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
