The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the SE-facing slope of a NE-SW ridge in an upland area with a nearby enclosure (TN028-082) to the NE. A raised circular area (diam. 34m N-S) enclosed by two well-preserved earth and stone banks with intervening fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.8m) and causewayed entrance (Wth 3m) at NW. The inner bank (Wth 3m; int. H 1.8m; ext. H 2m) and outer bank (Wth 3m; H 0.7m) are well-preserved. Low grass-covered earthen banks (TN028-083001) extending out from the W portion of the site are possibly associated with nineteenth-century forest plantation as depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
