The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a break in a SE-facing slope of Knockadiggeen Hill, in pasture. Although levelled, the outline of a circular area (diam. 38m N-S; 40m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 3m; D 0.45m) is indicated by differential grass growth. A slight suggestion of an outer bank upslope to the NW may be the remains of a field boundary which is depicted on the 1904 ed. OS 6-inch map abutting the NW quadrant of the site. Another field boundary skirted the edge of the SW quadrant.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
