The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a break on the N-facing slope of a hill in pasture. Marked as a circular enclosure on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map and indicated on the 1904 ed. with trees growing in the interior. The site was levelled c. twenty years ago according to the landowner but a depression indicating the former fosse survives (approx. diam. 25m N-S; 29m E-W). The N-S field boundary at E kinks out slightly to accommodate the site. The depiction on the latest ed. OS 6-inch map suggests a possible tree-ring classification.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
