The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the W-facing lower slope of Knockadiggeen Hill, in pasture. A roughly circular area (diam. 26.5m N-S; 23.5m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 3.9m; int. H 1.28m; ext. H 0.84m), a fosse (Wth 4.2m; D 2.14m) and an outer bank (Wth 2.5m; ext. H 1.11m). No obvious entrance feature is visible though there is a cattle break in the W sector with the slight suggestion of a causeway across the fosse. The internal bank is intact and is higher upslope to the E. The intervening fosse is wide and U-shaped with the external bank in good condition downslope to the W but less well preserved elsewhere and destroyed in the SE quadrant. The external bank is well preserved in the W sector but is less pronounced elsewhere and not visible in the SE quadrant. The interior slopes to the W and has been damaged by animal burrows. The inner bank and the fosse at S are covered in scrub.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
