The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a slight rise at the northern end of a gently sloping meadow with good views in all directions. According to the OS Letters the 'castle was completely rased about the year 1790' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 2, 119). No visible remains at ground level.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
