The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a low-lying flat valley between ridges, on a small hillock which slopes to the NE. A circular enclosure (diam. 26m N-S; 26.5m E-W) defined by two stony earthen banks with intervening fosse. Inner bank (Wth 1.2m; 0.62m int. H; 1.84m ext. H); U-shaped fosse (Wth 2.8m; D 0.57m); outer bank (Wth 3.7m; ext. H 0.36). In the SE sector the outer bank is very denuded revealing a stone foundation course. There is an entrance (Wth 2.75m) with stone-lined causeway in the NE quadrant with a long flat horizontal stone delimiting the edge of the causeway on the N side. Material has been dumped in the fosse, particularly in the NE quadrant.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
