The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a fairly prominent location in hilly pastureland on a gentle SW-facing slope. The site is not marked on the 1904 ed. OS 6-inch map but is shown as a slightly irregular rectangular enclosure, which appears to be hachured, on the 1st ed. (1840). It is possible that the site was a small field as it is positioned between two old farmsteads, that to the S is now deserted. Present remains consist of a rectangular area (dims. c. 20m NE-SW; 18m SE-NW) which is partially enclosed by a bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.5m) at the N end of the NW side. This bank has been augmented by dumped earth and stone. A stone wall (ext. H 0.9m) defines the SW and SE sides. No visible evidence of an external fosse. A silage pit has been placed outside the NW quadrant.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
