The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in very undulating pastureland where a number of quarry pits have been opened in the past. The site is levelled but seems to have been located on a natural spur, or immediately downslope of a spur in a slight dip. Marked on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map as a rectangular enclosure but not shown on subsequent 1904 ed. There is no visible water source near the site though there is a pond in the field to the ENE. Not visible at ground level.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
