The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on high ground in an upland area with extensive views. A large circular area (diam. 40m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; H 0.5m) with loosely piled rubble on top of the bank in places. A townland boundary consisting of a drystone wall bisects the site on a N-S axis. Wall-footings of a disused field fence intersect the site at NE as depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. Rock outcrop protrudes from the surface of the interior. It was impossible to examine the W half of the site due to a dense cover of furze. Stone from this site may have been used to build the townland boundary.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
