The National Monuments Service's description

Situated atop a low hillock on poorly drained land in an upland area. A large square area (35m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by a well-preserved flat-topped earth and stone bank (Wth 2.5-3.5m; int. H 0.3-1m; ext. H 1.5-2m) poorly preserved at N with a gap (Wth 1.7m) in the bank at E. Possible wall-footings of a rectangular house site (dims. 2.5m E-W x 3.3m N-S) in SW sector of interior. The fosse around the site appears to have been filled in and was waterlogged at time of visit.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
