The National Monuments Service's description

To the NE of the start (or end) of the droveway is a group of pits over an area 10m x
7.5m. Many of the pits contained 'burnt stone and charcoal' style fills. No reports of
slag but this would be a good area for burnt stone activities - perhaps an EM style
Burnt Mound for cattle processing as at Balriggan, Dundalk. Perhaps external
'campsite' activities associated with drovers. However, this could also be the remains
of a Bronze Age burnt mound.
