The National Monuments Service's description
According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Gurtenenakelly' there were 'Upon the River Shannon two Ile wires called Soagh Donyly and Soagh Morisy', which in 1640 were are the land of 'Donogh O Hogan of Bellarussine Gent. Irish Papist' (Simington 1934, vol.2, 144). These eel weirs are unlocated within the townland.
