The National Monuments Service's description
A late eighteenth-century estate map entitled 'A Map of [Part of the lands of Lissenhall]…May 1794 by John O Guerin [NLI 21.F.129 (Castle Otway Estate Maps)]' marks this as an "Old Road". It consists of a metalled roadway (Wth 3m) and presently leads up to a nineteenth-century house.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
