The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on an E-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. A raised circular area (diam. 26m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) best preserved at W, elsewhere reduced to a scarp with an external fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.2m) and an outer bank (Wth 2m; ext. H 0.2m) visible from S-W-NW only. The interior is raised at E to compensate for the slope on which the site is located. Possible entrance gap (Wth 2m) at E.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
